The Absorber is an essential part of the flue gas desulphurization plant. It is used as a "washing machine" for flue gases. SOx in flue gases is absorbed by getting into contact with water suspension of limestone (absorbent) via circulating pumps and SOx is absorbed into the suspension of the absorbent. Captured SOx in the absorbent is run down into reaction tank located at the bottom part of the absorber. Chemical reactions with the delivered air take place here resulting in calcium sulfate.
The absorber is 26 m high. At the bottom part, its diameter is 15,3 m and at the height of 8m, it is narrowed into a diameter of 12,8m. The interior of the absorber is protected by a rubber layer thickness of 8,25mm.
